Angel Island Outing 3/9-10

On March 9-10, Vihaan Madhavan organized an outing for Troop 57 and 4057 scouts to Angel Island. We backpacked up to our campsites at the East Bay sites (2 and 3), where we were greeted with breathtaking views of the East Bay, San Francisco, and the Bay Bridge.

The 1.5-mile hike to our campsite included 8 scouts and 6 adults. After cooking lunch, some of us participated in a service project to support the Angel Island Conservancy. Later, we took a guided tour of the Angel Island detention center, which was active from 1910 to 1930.

That evening, Albert Yang, Reece and Lydia cooked dinner at our campsite and admired the spectacular night sky. The next morning, we packed up, made breakfast, and hiked back down to the harbor to catch the ferry. As a final highlight, we were rewarded with the incredible sight of a herd of seals near the harbor.

Overall, the campout was a fun and rewarding experience for everyone!
