Anaphylactic shock is a life-threatening allergic reaction that can affect the entire body. It is very dangerous and can kill someone very quickly meaning that it is a hurry case. Anaphylactic shock requires immediate first-aid treatment and medical attention.
Symptoms
- Swelling of throat and/or tongue that makes it difficult or impossible to breathe
- Hives and/or itchy skin
- Low blood pressure
- A weak and rapid pulse
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- Dizziness or fainting
How to treat it
Call 911 and get an epinephrine auto injector(EpiPen) ASAP! Just like in any hurry case, it’s important to get professional medical help quickly because emergency responders will have more resources and knowledge to help the victim. Also, Getting an EpiPen is very important because it is a life-saving adrenaline shot that reduces swelling and opens up the airways of a victim. The EpiPen can belong to the victim, to you or anybody else on the scene, because ultimately all EpiPens are very similar and work the same on any person. Follow the instructions on the EpiPen to administer the shot and treat the victim for shock while you wait for first responders to arrive.
