The Troop 57 Wreath Sale was a great success! A huge thank you to all who participated. A few photos Chris Tran took at the truck stops can be found here.
Chris Tran also wrote a short article about the event:
Success strikes again as Troop 57 blows by yet another successful wreath sale, selling out all 1900 24 inch Noble Fir wreaths before the day’s end. This year’s wreath sale, our annual fundraiser, departed from the traditional territory walking and into pre-selling wreaths. The wreath sale, which funds much of our activities as well as gear, such as the new climbing equipment Troop 57 bought a few years ago, is beneficial to our troop’s ongoing activities.
Despite losing our top seller from last year, Neil Bhateja (225 wreaths), several scouts went all out and poured lots of hard work into the 2007 Wreath Sale, and compensated for the loss. Recognition goes to Austin Poore with 123 wreaths. Close behind him is Alex Markosian, who sold 115 wreaths. In third is David Lim, at 96 wreaths. While both Austin and Alex both took the hard route to success, spending dedicated time in walking around the neighborhoods, David took advantage to technology and took the more convenient way, email. Christopher Tran took 4th place, with a grand total of 90 wreaths while Andreas Vought took 5th with 80 wreaths. Walker Mees, neck to neck with Andreas at 78 wreaths took 6th, rounding out this year’s top sellers. The spotlight was drawn once again to Neil this year, after dividing up his extensive list of contacts and sending portions to each of eleven lucky scouts.
Truck stops thrived with success as well, with three truck stops this year. Scouts on the Waverley, and Town and Country truck stops lifted their arms up and down endlessly, selling many wreaths on the day of the Big Game.
In addition to the Nintendo Wii, a host of attractive prizes crowded the table at the 12/12 wreath sale prize meeting. Several iPods were present, including a Touch and two Nanos. With the iPods were two stylish cameras in orange and green. Also included were walkie-talkies, Rubik’s cubes as well as iTunes Gift cards. A free movie was thrown in as well for all who sold their quota.
Congratulations to all the scouts who went out there and sold wreaths, and don’t forget, the 2008 Wreath Sale will creep up fast!
